My Personal Review:

These Steak Kabobs were the most amazing kabobs I've ever tasted. The marinade gives them the perfect taste and keeps them extremely juicy. Like I said in the intro, these kabobs are perfect for large gatherings. One thing I would recommend the use of metal skewers. Even if the wooden skewers are soaked for over 24 hours, they still tend to dry up, burn, and eventually break even if you are not done cooking.

Sourdough Starter for Sourdough Pizza

Today's post will be a 2 part post.
*Pizza Recipe, pictures, and review to follow later tonight*

The first part of today's post will be the directions to making the sourdough starter needed for the crust of the sourdough pizza. Its a very simple process but can take anywhere from 2-5 days till it is complete. The pizza recipe can also be made with a traditional pizza dough, but i like the flavor of the sourdough crust.

Prep Time: 10- 15 min.
Ready In: 2-5 Days

Here's What You'll Need:
  • 2 Cups Spring Water
  • 1 Tbl. Sugar, Honey, or Maple Syrup
  • 2 Cups all purpose flower
  • 1 Tbl. Yeast

Directions:
  1. Beat all of the ingredients together in a bowl
  2. Cover the bowl with a towel and place in a warm area (cover bowl with cloth not plastic to allow airborne wild yeast to enter) The starter will bubble within a few minutes. It will double in size, but as it begins to ferment it will settle down.
  3. Let the starter sit in a warm place, stirring the liquid back into the batter (it will separate) once a day for 2- 5 days. When the bubbling has stopped and it has a sour yeasty aroma, it is ready to use.
  4. Stir the mixture and measure the amount needed. It should be the consistency of pancake batter.
Keep Your Starter Going

  1. Store the finished starter in a sealed jar in the refrigerator.
  2. Every time you remove an amount of starter add to your starter an equal amount of flower and water. (If you use 1/2 cup starter add 1/2 cup each of flower and water) Let the starter sit in a warm place for 12 hours then Return to refrigerator.

A starter can be kept as long as you would like. Every week or two, be sure to use/ remove part of the starter, and add as much flower and water as you used/ removed.

The tender potatoes and carrots covered in a smooth dark gravy complement the roast, and are a perfect side. What do you expect me to say about my grandmas recipe??? But believe me, It is the truth! The only down fall of the recipe is the time it takes to prepare and cook it, but that's not Nanny's fault!

Chris' Bay Area Burger

For my first recipe I've decided to make an American favorite, Cheese Burgers. Normally burgers consist of ground beef, salt, and pepper. Toss it on a bun, now add one, or all of the following... ketchup, mustard, mayo, possibly some lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onions. Don't forget your cheese! American, Swiss, Cheddar, Pepper Jack, Blue Cheese... You get the point. So simple but yet so many combinations! So you think you've got the burger thing under control... right? Not yet! Today I've decided to take the original Cheese Burger and jazz it up a bit! The recipe is called "Chris' Bay Area Burgers"

Prep Time: 10 Min.
Cook Time: 20 Min.

Ready In: 30 Min.

Serves: 4 People

Here's What You'll Need:
1 pound ground beef
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried basil leaves
4 hamburger buns, split
4 Slices of cheese of your choice

Directions:
  1. Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat. Mix together the ground beef, garlic, olive oil, salt, pepper, and basil. Divide into four balls, and flatten into patties.
  2. Cook the patties for about 3 to 5 minutes on each side, or to desired doneness. The internal temperature should be at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C). Remove from grill and place onto hamburger buns. Top with desired toppings and condiments.

The Finished Product!

My Personal Review:

Overall, This was a delicious NEW recipe and would definitly make it again sometime! It was very quick, and simple, and was well worth the 30 minutes. It was lacking a little something, I think it needed a special sauce, or something other than your normal ketchup and mustard etc. Others recommended serving with fresh mozzarella slices on a rosemary/ red onion focaccia instead of a hamburger bun.
